I keep a box of water crackers and canned sardines in stock for myself. For quick dinners, a box of farfalle pasta is a definite staple. I always have a jar of fig preserves for when my dad visits. He also reminds me, I have to stop at WF to buy him a jar of fig jam if I go visit him.

My pantry well stocked with a variety of condiments, nuts, oatmeal, spices and brown rice is my resource for tasty and nutritious variety when summer's bounty of local fruits and veggies are available. How I enjoy yoghurt with fresh garlic, lemon thyme, chopped fresh heirloom tomatoes and basil. What a tasty and satisfying snack I create with plain yoghurt, fresh raspberries, a tablespoon of dry oatmeal, chopped hazelnuts and a drizzle of honey. I begin my day with a healthy breakfast. One of favorite choices in the morning: toasting a handful of walnuts and combining them with brown rice sauteed with chopped Valhalla onions, strips of sweet red pepper and a pinch of cumin. I rely on my pantry contents and the options available that allow me to explore and experiment with nature's bounty and tease and tempt my palate while I strengthen my reserve to eat to live rather than live to eat.
