I like anything Irish, but my all-time favorite non-traditional song is "Mary's Boy Child," by Boney-M. I think the upbeat rhythm suits the holiday wonderfully. I'd love to win this set; our holiday party this year has an international Christmas theme - foods, decorations, and traditions from each of the 7 continents.(Antarctica's contribution will be ice-skating penguin figurines and Ice!) :-) It's been a blast doing the research!

I'm not sure if this is the exact title but I really enjoy John Lennon's holiday song, This is Christmas. It is a great song and makes me this about the passage of time; end of another year.

Love Putumayo and my kids do even more! While not International per-se; we enjoy Mele Kalikimaka. I was born in Hawaii and have been singing it since I was a wee one. Now my kids enjoy it. Love Putumayo's version of it on "A Family Christmas".

We actually haven't heard a lot of nontraditional stuff so the comments here are great to expand our horizons. :)

I just love jazzier or latin style Christmas music and get tired of the traditional music year after year. The more non-traditional and different, the more wonderful it is! I sometimes will play my own creative versions of some of the traditional Christmas tunes on a little hand-carved wood flute that I have!

My favorite has got to be "The Christmas Song." Nothing like "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire and folks dressed up like Eskimos" to keep make your Christmas merry!

My fav none traditional sounds are that of children "singing" at the school holiday festival. It's just so great to hear the excitement and pure joy in their voices.

What a cool question. Thanks to all who posted songs, artists and links, I can't wait to check them out. Our favorite nontraditional holiday music is Native American Flute music. The Songs of Winter album by Jeff Ball is a lovely blend of traditional American Indian Flute and holiday favorites.

I love the African Noel ... it makes my hips want to shake! :) It's not *exactly* traditional ... but I'm glad that enough choirs know it and perform it!

I really do enjoy simplistic, light Christmas music with minimalist instruments. Hearing the sole sounds and shapes of a talented voice really does allow for the season to sink in, clearly, warmly and soothingly. A passionate voice can go so far without traditional, elaborate composition.

I was born in Venezuela, and as much as I love the rhythmic beat of gaitas, I have fallen in love with the voice of Ella Fitzgerald singing Christmas music!
