Smoothie Recipes

No matter how you blend it, smoothies are a great way to get a lot of nutrients into one simple drink. From breakfast to dessert, smoothie recipes run the gamut on ingredients, allowing you to add just about anything!

Smoothies don’t require a special trip to the store. By using the ingredients in your pantry, such as nut butters, oats, chia seeds or hemp seeds and combining them with the fruits or veggies you have on hand, you can create innovative combinations. Don’t forget that frozen fruits can replace the need for ice (if you love super-cold smoothies).

Smoothies are also a great way to use up those not-so-pretty produce items in your fridge. Slightly soft carrots and apples or wilted greens are ideal for blending! To mix things up a little more, try adding fresh herbs like mint, or spices such as ground cardamom or fresh ginger.

You don’t need to have a high-powered blender to create super smoothies. When layering ingredients, pour in your liquid first, then soft ingredients like fresh fruit and finish with frozen fruit, raw vegetables or ice. The denser ingredients will push down on the others to help create a smoother drink. If you’re using a protein powder in your smoothie recipe, add it with the liquid.
